Aisle 4 is a curatorial collective based in Tkaronto/Toronto working in social practice and public art. Learn more about us; view our complete list of collaborators; and explore our current & past projects, including exhibitions, public programming, research, and advocacy.

Who we are

Aisle 4 formed in 2013 through a shared interest in bridging the gap between the art community and the broader public, and enhancing arts engagement in the city through social practice and public art. Its four members are Emily Fitzpatrick, Shannon Linde, Patricia Ritacca, and Renée van der Avoird.

What we do

Together we commission artist projects in the public realm that respond to specific communities, geographies, and/or social issues. Our work involves deep collaboration with artists and publics, and in some cases partner organizations, embracing opportunities that favour long-term partnerships and occur outside of institutional structures. Over the past decade, we have presented projects that explore themes such as gentrification, public safety, alternative histories, and institutional critique.
